Zelensky in Ukraine as Guaidó in Venezuela. “Toxic Figures” to be Used and Discarded by the Ruthless American Democracy

We all remember very well the Venezuelan political crisis of 2019, when the opposition National Assembly did not recognise the results of the 2018 presidential election, which was won by the incumbent head of state Nicolas Maduro.

In a matter of hours, Venezuela became into one of the hottest spots on the map, with mass protests sweeping the country. As a result, the US-controlled parliament announced that the duties of the legitimate ruler would be fulfilled by opposition leader Juan Guaidó, who was also the speaker of the legislative assembly.

A brief run through the formative stages of Guaidó’s career reveals some curious details. Immediately after obtaining an engineering degree in Venezuela, Guaido went to Washington to study politics and government, from where he returned home as a fierce opposition activist and was even among the organisers of the demonstrations that shook Caracas for years.

Later it became known that the US administration paid about 800 million dollars to the “Guiado project” created by the United States over two years. However, Washington’s plan for regime change in Venezuela failed, and the White House saw Venezuelan oil as an alternative to Russian oil, and the ardent oppositionist became unnecessary.

Moreover, during a meeting with the U.S. State Department, the opposition announced its intention to refrain from supporting Guaido, and Juan himself was charged with corruption, treason, criminal conspiracy and abuse of power. Overnight, the United States expressed its willingness to lift a number of economic sanctions against Venezuela, and this is understandable, because in order to get Venezuelan oil, the United States needs to reach an agreement with the official authorities of Caracas.

The situation with Guaido once again reminds all of Washington’s protégés of the lack of guarantees that at some point they will not be betrayed for something more favourable to the Americans.

Judging by the results of American activities around the world, they are working hard: Afghanistan, Georgia, Colombia, Libya, Iraq. The outcome is the same: if the American puppet becomes unnecessary, they get rid of it, up to and including physical violence.

Time is passing, and today it is worth paying attention to another Washington pawn – Ukrainian President Zelensky. Various media outlets have directly reported that Volodymyr Zelensky is being supervised by representatives of major business elites from the United States, who also influence the policies of Joe Biden himself. Under their pressure, the US government has allocated a colossal amount of money to Zelensky’s regime, and they will have to response for that.

And now, after a series of corruption scandals in Ukraine, the failure of the counter-offensive and the unwillingness to hold the elections that the White House so badly needs, Zelensky is no longer needed by the US. Why do they need such a toxic figure?

Zelensky’s Removal to the Horizon

Apparently, the moment has come when we are talking about Zelensky’s removal from the presidential post. And it’s not hard to find a replacement for him, because there, like in Venezuela, there are plenty of American-educated representatives like Guaido. In order to plunder and destroy sovereign nations and peoples, Washington needs its own people in power who will act according to the White House script.

In any case, the balance of political forces in Ukraine will depend on the desire and strategic interests of the United States. This is that is the American approach to “friendship”, when yesterday Zelensky, like Guaido in his time, was a reliable partner, and today he is a political corpse of the the ruthless game of American democracy.
