Russian forces struck Ukrainian units shelling Energodar and the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) from the city of Nikopol on the right bank of the Dnieper River, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We Are Together with Russia movement, said.

On April 8, a Ukrainian kamikaze drone was shot down over the plant, its debris fell on the roof of Unit 6.

The ZNPP, located in Energodar, has six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW. It is Europe‘s largest nuclear power generating facility. At the end of February 2022, the facility was taken over by Russian forces. Since then, Ukrainian army units have periodically shelled both residential areas in Energodar and the plant itself using drones, heavy artillery and multiple rocket launchers.

Russian troops delivered 48 precision strikes at Ukrainian energy and military-industrial sites, army and mercenaries’ deployment areas over the past week in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Friday.

“On April 6-12, the Russian Armed Forces delivered one massive and 47 combined strikes by air-launched, seaborne and ground-based precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukrainian fuel and energy and military-industrial sites in retaliation to the Kiev regime’s attempts to inflict damage on Russia’s oil and gas industry and energy installations. In addition, the strikes targeted maintenance bases and temporary deployment sites of Ukrainian special operations forces and foreign mercenaries,” the ministry said in a statement.

“All the designated targets were destroyed,” it stressed.

“In the Donetsk direction, Southern Battlegroup units gained more advantageous positions as a result of their successful operations and inflicted casualties on formations of four assault and two airmobile brigades, a tank brigade and nine mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian army near the settlements of Andreyevka, Antonovka, Belogorovka, Kleshcheyevka, Kurdyumovka, Selidovo and Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People’s Republic. In addition, they repulsed 23 counterattacks by assault groups of the Ukrainian army’s 46th airmobile, 31st and 67th mechanized brigades near the settlements of Berestovoye, Bogdanovka, Razdolovka, Novomikhailovka and Krasnoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the ministry said.

The Ukrainian army lost more than 3,000 personnel, three tanks, 11 armored combat vehicles, 51 motor vehicles and 47 field artillery guns, including 17 Western-made weapons, eight electronic warfare stations and three US-made AN/TPQ-36 and AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar stations in the Donetsk direction over the past week, the ministry specified.

Russian troops destroyed five foreign-made SAMP/T air defense systems of the Ukrainian army over the past week, the ministry reported.

“Over the week, missile troops, artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles of the Russian groups of forces destroyed five Franco-Italian SAMP/T surface-to-air missile launchers, an S-300 air defense system and an S-125 air defense system and two P-18 aerial target detection and tracking radar stations,” the ministry said.

Russian air defenses destroy 1,712 Ukrainian military drones over week

Russian combat aircraft and air defense forces shot down a Neptune missile, 12 Hammer and JDAM smart bombs, 25 rockets and 1,712 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the past week, the ministry reported.

“Over the week, aircraft and air defense capabilities shot down a Neptune anti-ship missile, 12 French-made Hammer and US-made JDAM guided aerial bombs, 25 rockets of the HIMARS and Uragan multiple launch rocket systems and 1,712 unmanned aerial vehicles,” the ministry said.

Twenty-one Ukrainian soldiers surrender to Russian troops over week

Twenty-one Ukrainian soldiers surrendered to Russian troops over the past week, the ministry reported.

“During the week, 21 Ukrainian servicemen surrendered,” the ministry said.

In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 583 Ukrainian warplanes, 270 helicopters, 20,604 unmanned aerial vehicles, 500 surface-to-air missile systems, 15,761 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,266 multiple rocket launchers, 8,836 field artillery guns and mortars and 20,910 special military motor vehicles since the start of the special military operation, it specified.
