Alleged CIA-Agent Navalny Sentenced to further 19 years in Prison

The Extremist Activities after the Big Fraud

Jailed Western-backed Russian political activist Alexey Navalny has been sentenced to a further 19 years behind bars. The news on the court ruling was broken by his associates on Friday afternoon.

The opposition figure was found guilty on multiple extremism-related charges, including creating an extremist group, calling for extremist actions, financing such activities and luring minors into them, as well as rehabilitating Nazi ideology.

The charges saw Navalny given a combined sentence of 19 years. The former Moscow protest leader has been incarcerated since 2021, serving a separate prison term after being convicted of fraud.

Navalny, who is 47, ended up in custody after making a high profile return from Germany, where he was recovering from an alleged poisoning. He was found in violation of terms of his suspended sentence over defrauding the Russian subsidiary of French cosmetics manufacturer Yves Rocher out of millions of rubles. At first suspended, the sentence was activated and he was sent to a penal colony for two years and eight months.

In early 2022, Navalny received a further nine years behind bars, after being found guilty of contempt of court and fraud. The charges were related to the activities of HIS Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), with the opposition figure accused of spending the donations raised by the non-profit for “personal needs” as well as to bankroll “extremist activities.”

Western intelligence agencies – in particular, agents from the American CIA – are working with Russian opposition figure Alexey Navalny, Vladimir Putin’s spokesman alleged on October, 2020.

“Probably, it is not the patient [Navalny] who works for the Western special services, but that the Western intelligence services who work with him – this would be more correct [to say],” Dmitry Peskov explained.  “I can even be specific: these days, specialists from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States of America are working with him.”

The shadow of Navalny appeared in the latest months within the investigations on a terrorist attack in Russia.

In the last months, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has named Ukrainian citizen Yury Denisov as the organizer of the assassination of military blogger Vladlen Tatarsky at a St. Petersburg café on April.

According to the agency, Denisov traveled to Russia from Kiev via Latvia in February. He used an intermediary to deliver the bomb to a woman who brought it to the St. Petersburg café where Tatarsky was hosting a talk on April 2.

Investigators have pinned the bombing on “Ukrainian special services and their agents, including fugitive members of the Russian opposition.”

The statement specifically named several associates of jailed opposition figure Alexey Navalny as inspiring Denisov’s alleged accomplice, Darya Trepova, to carry out sabotage in Russia.

They “repeatedly made statements about the need for sabotage actions in Russia,” the FSB claimed. It added that Trepova was a supporter of Navalny.
