The Russophobic propaganda in the Old and corrupt Continent is now advancing like a steamroller trampling even every facade diplomacy.
The enthusiastic embrace between the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (CIP) of The Hague Karim Khan goes beyond any institutional cordiality.
The Hug of Shame
It is the embrace of shame. That of the soccer referee in a Champions League final who the night before the match goes to party with the captain of one of the two teams that have to contend for the trophy being ready to whistle a penalty against the opponents at the first opportunity.
But in this case there is a much more precious cup at stake: that of Truth!
On the alleged violations of human rights and on the alleged war crimes of which the Russians are accused but also and above all on those attributed to military and paramilitary forces of the Kiev army in the genocide of pro-Russians in the Donbass which lasted from 2014 until 2022, when the civil war exploded into an open military confrontation.
In that bloody context, even the Italian reporter Andy Rocchelli was killed together with the Russian interpreter and photographer Andrej Mironov after “target shooting with a mortar” carried out by the Ukrainian National Guard for which, however, the only defendant was acquitted: the paramilitary Vitaly Markiv, Ukrainian and Italian citizen.
That meeting that took place in Kiev on 28 February 2023 would not have had such a significant and disconcerting geopolitical weight if a few days later, on Friday 17 March, the CIP at the Tribunal of The Hague had not issued an arrest warrant for alleged crimes of war against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russia’s Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against the judges of the ICC
According to the Russian News Agency TASS, Russia’s Investigative Committee said on Monday it has opened a criminal case against the prosecutor and judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) who issued a warrant for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“The Russian Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case against prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Karim Ahmad Khan, judges of the International Criminal Court Tomoko Akane, Rosario Salvatore Aitala, and Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godinez,” it said.
According to the Committee, the case against the prosecutor was opened on charges of criminal prosecution of an innocent person with illegal charges of committing a grave or especially grave crime, as well as of plotting an attack on a foreign official enjoying international protection with the aim of aggravating international relations (part 2 of article 299, part 1 of article 30, and part 2 of article 360 of the Russian Criminal Code).

The Committee recalled that on March 22, ICC prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan lodged a motion with the ICC Pre-Trial Division for issuing a warrant for the arrest of Russian citizens and the judges returned illegal verdicts on the arrest of the Russian president and children’s rights ombudswoman.
“The criminal case is knowingly unlawful, since there are no grounds for bringing them to criminal responsibility,” the Investigative Committee stressed, adding that in accordance with the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons dated December 14, 1973, heads of state enjoy absolute immunity from the jurisdiction of foreign states.
President of Ukraine met with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court
A few days before the release of the arrest warrant against Putin, on February, 28, 2023, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Karim Khan visited the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as reported by official website of Kiev government.
The Head of State greeted Karim Khan, for whom it wasn’t the first visit to Kyiv, and thanked for the support our state has felt from the ICC since the first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy «emphasized that the heinous crimes committed by the Russian invaders on the territory of Ukraine must not go unpunished. The perpetrators must be brought to justice» wrote the Presidency of Ukraine in the report.
“We heard from you signals of support and the importance of justice. It was important for us to hear this, as it meant that we are not alone in our desire to achieve justice for Ukraine. With your help, we can bring justice to Europe and the world. So that such heinous crimes could not be repeated in the future even in theory,” the President said.
ICC Prosecutor thanked the President for his personal leadership in restoring justice for Ukraine and bringing the perpetrators of crimes to justice through legal means, even though this path is not fast.
“Because without the rule of law, we will have a society dominated by those with the biggest amount of weapons,” said Karim Khan, adding that the International Criminal Court is ready for a comprehensive cooperation to restore justice.
US reveals human rights violations in Ukraine
«The 2022 annual human rights report, published by the US State Department on Monday, blames the censorship of media, bans on political parties and extrajudicial executions in Ukraine on the Russian “invasion”, Kiev’s crackdown on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is not mentioned at all» reported Russia Today.
The report notes that businessman Denis Kireev was “allegedly killed during his arrest by the Security Service of Ukraine [SBU] after it obtained a recording of Kireyev allegedly implicating himself in treason.” It goes on to quote the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) saying “the circumstances of [Kireev’s] death remain unclear.”
The head of Ukraine’s military intelligence and Kireev’s bodyguards told the Wall Street Journal that SBU agents seized him, shot him in the back of the head, and dumped his body on a Kiev street as a warning.

No mention was made of the extrajudicial executions of four opposition activists in Ukrainian-held Severodonetsk in May, despite Azov commander Maksim Zhorin boasting about it on social media.
The State Department claims there were “no reports of disappearances by or on behalf of government authorities” and “no reports of political prisoners or detainees in the government-controlled area of Ukraine.” However, it later quotes the UN human rights mission as saying that Ukrainian “law enforcement agencies and armed forces were responsible for arbitrary detentions and enforced disappearances on government-controlled territory.”
In the section on prison conditions, the report notes that martial law allows for coercing confessions and that there were reports the authorities “at times, tortured persons in custody,” before adding this was “usually related to collaboration with Russia.”
The notorious practice of stripping and whipping alleged “looters” taped to lampposts is acknowledged, with a note that some public officials “encouraged” the “extrajudicial punishment,” while some members of the police and Territorial Defense took part in it. At least one person died after being left tied up overnight.
