The Russian military has in recent days repelled all of Ukraine’s attempts to launch its “long-promised offensive,” Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Tuesday.
The way he sees it, Kiev, in a move of desperation, decided to redeploy forces from Kherson and staged a diversionary terrorist attack against the Kakhovka dam. TASS has summarized Shoigu’s perspective on the situation.
During the three days of combat operations in all directions Ukraine lost up to 3,715 men, 52 tanks and 207 armored combat vehicles, 134 trucks, 48 field artillery guns, as well as five aircraft, two helicopters and 53 drones.
Russia’s losses were immeasurably smaller: “Altogether 71 servicemen of the combined group of forces were killed and 210 others wounded while repulsing the enemy offensive. Fifteen tanks, nine infantry fighting vehicles, two trucks and nine guns were taken out.”

The Russian armed forces have destroyed 1,500 Ukrainian troops that were attempting to attack and 8 German-made Leopard tanks, the Russian Defense Ministry (MOD) said on Tuesday, according to TASS Russia News Agency.
“Total losses of Ukrainian troops in the southern Donetsk Region area were more than 1,500 Ukrainian servicemen, 28 tanks, of them 8 German-made Leopard tanks, 3 wheeled French-made АМХ-10 tanks and 109 armored fighting vehicles,” the ministry said (video about tanks destroyed below and full detailed statement at the bottom of this article).
Two ammunition depots of the 24th Mechanised Brigade of the AFU has been destroyed near Dzerzhinsk (Donetsk People’s Republic), one of the AFU 60th Motorised Infantry Brigade has been destroyed near Malinovka (Kharkov region) and another of AFU 126th Brigade of the Territorial Defence of Ukraine near Nikolskoye (Kherson region).
This is the first Russian answer to the counter-offensive launch by Kiev regime in Donbass.
Russian forces shoot down Ukrainian Su-25 and Su-27 Air fighters
Russian forces have stopped Kiev’s troops from crossing the Dnieper River in the Kherson region and shot down one of the two Su-25 strike fighters providing air cover for the Ukrainian landing operation, RIA Novosti reported on Monday, citing a source “familiar with the situation.”
“Another attempted … landing operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has failed,” the source told the news agency. According to the report Kiev’s troops sought to cross the river near the village of Babino, some 124 kilometers from the strategic town of Novaya Kakhovka, site of a dam on the Dnieper that also served as a bridge before being seriously damaged by Ukrainian strikes.
During the clashes near Babino, the Russian troops managed to shoot down a Su-25 strike fighter, the source claimed according to Russia Today, adding that the aircraft fell in territory controlled by Ukrainian forces. The second strike fighter then flew away, leaving the landing party without air cover, the source said.

Russian Units Control Key Road to Kharkov Region, Choking Off Ukrainian Supplies
A motorized rifle unit commander clarified that his troops were tasked with inflicting defeat on Ukraine’s military in the designated area using all available firepower.
«Motor rifle units from Russia’s Western Military District retain relentless fire control over the Kupyansk-Novoselovskoye route in the Kharkov Region» reported Sputnik International.
The motorized units employ artillery and heavy machine gunfire at the enemy’s slightest attempt to move along the route or breach Russia’s combat formations. As a result, the Ukrainian military is unable to use the road for troop rotation or to provide units with ammo or provisions, and is forced to seek out alternative, less convenient routes.
Top Ukrainian diplomat says that Ukraine has enough weapons for counter-offensive
Ukraine has enough weapons to launch a counter-offensive, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba told Reuters on Monday.
“We (already) unlocked all weapons <…> There is nothing big left to fight for,” he was quoted as saying. However, the minister did not answer the question whether Ukraine has already started its counter-offensive, saying that what matters most is not when it started but that it brings victory for Ukraine.
He also said that Kiev has received no “official complaints” from its allies over the activities of Ukrainian sabotage groups in Russia’s Belgorod Region.
Deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office Igor Zhovkva told The Times on Saturday that Ukraine needed more artillery and armored vehicles for a successful offensive. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelemsky said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal earlier that Kiev was ready for a counter-offensive, but various scenarios were possible.
The topic of Ukraine’s possible offensive has been floating in the mass media for months. Russia’s foreign ministry said earlier that the West’s speculations about Ukraine’s counter-offensive only prove its direct involvement in the conflict.
Some 100 people still staying in Novaya Tavolzhanka amid Ukraine’s shelling attacks
Around 100 people remain in the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka in Russia’s border region of Belgorod, which continues to be shelled by Ukrainian troops, the region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on Monday.
“Today, we cannot reach the village. According to the local authorities, there were some 100 people there. It is impossible to verify this data due to non-stop shelling attacks. As soon as the situation changes, we will try to persuade the people to leave the village,” he said.
Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said earlier on Monday that on June 4, two sabotage and reconnaissance groups made an attempt to infiltrate the Belgorod Region near Novaya Tavolzhanka but this attempt was thwarted by Russian troops and border guards (details below in the statement at the bottom of this article).
Ukrainian intelligence denies using Belgian weapons on Russian territory
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate believes that all questions regarding Kiev using Belgian-supplied weapons to strike Russian territory should go to the “Russian volunteer corps” militia and the “Freedom of Russia” legion (deemed terrorist, outlawed in Russia), Directorate representative Andrey Yusov said, commenting on Belgium’s investigation into its weapons being used for attacks on Russian territory.
According to Yusov, these militias that fight on Kiev’s side, allegedly act autonomously, TASS Russian News Agency wrote.

On Sunday, Belgium’s Le Soir reported citing its sources that Belgian authorities will soon file an inquiry with Kiev, demanding explanations over the fact of Belgian-made weapons being used during an attack on Russia’s Belgorod Region. According to the report, Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder and Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib underscored that weapons shipped to Kiev were not authorized for use by third persons or on the territory of the Russian Federation.

The Ukrainian armed forces failed to achieve success in a large-scale offensive on five front sectors in the south Donetsk area, official spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov said.
“The adversary launched a large-scale offensive from the morning of June 4 on five sectors of the front in the south Donetsk area by bringing into action 23rd and 31st mechanized brigades from strategic reserves of the Ukrainian armed forces with support from other military units and teams,” the spokesman said.
“The adversary’s objective was to break through our defense on the most vulnerable front sector, in its opinion. The enemy failed to perform its tasks and had no success,” Konashenkov noted.
The MOD said that Ukraine had deployed the 23rd and the 31st mechanized brigade from its “strategic reserves,” which were supported in battle by other units.
“As a result of skilled and sophisticated action of the Battlegroup East, the Ukrainian armed forces lost more than 250 persons, 16 tanks, three mechanized infantry combat vehicles and 21 combat armored vehicles,” Konashenkov stressed.
He particularly noted that Chief of General Staff Army General Valery Gerasimov was at one of frontline command posts in this area.
The ministry released a video of what it said were strikes on Ukrainian military vehicles.
Ukrainian President Volodimyr Zelensky said on Saturday that Kiev was ready to launch its long-planned counteroffensive and that the military could not wait “for months.” The deputy head of his office, Igor Zhovkva, however, said the same day that his country had still not received enough weapons and ammunition to mount a successful campaign.
Kiev has recently stepped up the artillery and drone attacks on Russian cities, including a UAV raid on Moscow last week. The Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday evening that the troops had repelled an armed incursion into the Belgorod Region, which shares a border with Ukraine.

The Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) and the ‘Freedom of Russia’ Legion – two pro-Kiev groups made up of fighters with neo-Nazi background – claimed responsibility for that attack and similar forays into Russian territory that took place throughout this spring.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gudkov wrote on his Telegram channel early Monday morning that a drone strike had started a fire on “an energy infrastructure site.” He added that there were no casualties and no power outages.

Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation
On 4 June, the enemy made an unsuccessful attempt at a large-scale offensive in South Donetsk direction. Six mechanised and two tank battalions were deployed on the AFU side.
As a result of the active actions by the units of the Vostok Group of Forces, air strikes and artillery inflicted significant losses on the enemy close to Neskuchnoye (Donetsk People’s Republic) and Novodarovka (Zaporozhye region).
The enemy losses were 300 Ukrainian servicemen, 16 tanks, 26 armoured fighting vehicles and 14 motor vehicles.
The enemy haven’t achieved the goals. The Kiev regime continues the attempts to carry out terrorist attacks against civilians in the border regions of the Russian Federation.
Yesterday, the units of the Russian Armed Forces and the Border Guard of the Federal Security Service have thwarted an attempt by two groups of Ukrainian terrorists to enter Belgorod region close to Novaya Tavolzhanka (Belgorod region).
At around 1pm Moscow, under the cover of heavy shelling of civilian facilities, the terrorists attempted to cross the Seversky Donets River and land on the outskirts of Novaya Tavolzhanka (Belgorod region).
The terrorist formations of the Kiev regime have been destroyed by air strikes and artillery fire of the Western Military District State Border protection cover units.
As a result of the fire damage, the enemy losses were 10 terrorists, two boats and one armoured vehicle.
In addition, in the course of counter-battery warfare, five Ukrainian mortar platoons and Grad MLRS vehicle have been suppressed close to Volchansk (Kharkov region), as well as two Polish-manufactured Krab self-propelled artillery systems that were striking at the Russian territory have been destroyed.
In Kupyansk direction, the attacks, launched by aviation and artillery of the Zapad Group of Forces, have resulted in the neutralisation of the AFU manpower and hardware close to Sinkovka, Kotlyarovka, and Krakhmalnoye (Kharkov region).
Five Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups have been foiled close to Novosyolovskoye (Lugansk People’s Republic), Molchanovo, Olshana, Berestovoye and Orlyanka (Kharkov region).
The enemy losses were 90 Ukrainian servicemen, three armoured fighting vehicles, two Polish-manufactured Krab self-propelled artillery systems and one D-20 howitzer.

One Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage group has been eliminated close to Kuzmino (Lugansk People’s Republic).
The enemy losses were 65 Ukrainian servicemen, two armoured fighting vehicles, two pickup trucks, one Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system, Msta-B and D-20 howitzers, and one Nona-S self-propelled artillery system.
In Donetsk direction, the active combat operations were carried out by the Akhmat special forces in the central part of Maryinka, as well as the units of the 1st Army Corps near Avdeevka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, as well as artillery of the Yug Group of Forces inflicted a fire damage on the enemy units close to Berdychi, Khimik, Pervomayskoye and Kurakhovo (Donetsk People’s Republic).
The enemy losses were up to 425 Ukrainian servicemen, one infantry fighting vehicle, 14 motor vehicles, one German-manufactured Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled artillery system, Msta-B and D-30 howitzers.

Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralised 98 artillery units of the AFU at their firing positions, manpower and military hardware at 104 areas.
Air defence facilities have shot down one Su-27 airplane of Ukrainian Air Force near Zakotnoye (Donetsk People’s Republic). Eight HIMARS and Uragan rocket-propelled projectiles have been intercepted.
In addition, 13 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been intercepted close to Shevchenko, Olshana (Kharkov region), Zolotaryovka, Kremennaya (Lugansk People’s Republic), Vladimirovka, Kirillovka, Staromlynovka (Donetsk People’s Republic) and Zabarino (Kherson region).
In total, 433 airplanes, 236 helicopters, 4,486 unmanned aerial vehicles, 424 air defence missile systems, 9,431 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,114 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 5,009 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 10,688 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.
