One of the most important and esteemed Italian journalists in the field of international investigations passed away on July,19 at the age of 70 due to a fulminant illness.
This is Andrea Purgatori, the Corriere della Sera reporter who first revealed the hypothesis that it was a missile that shot down the DC-9 Itavia on June 27, 1980 in which 81 people died in the shipwreck near the Sicilian island of Ustica.

He has reported on many conflicts, such as the 1982 Lebanon War, the 1980s Iran-Iraq War, the 1991 Gulf War, the Intifada and the uprisings in Tunisia and Algeria. He has also written for l’Unità, Vanity Fair, The Huffington Post and Le Monde diplomatique. Lastly he collaborated with Corriere della Sera and Style Magazine.
